The Pierce Trips team is growing! Please give a warm welcome to Jacob Meyers, our new Sustainable Transportation Outreach Coordinator. Jacob attended Penn State and Evergreen State College, and his hobbies include bicycling, basketball, tennis, hiking, and walking his dog Drogo. Jacob is organizing the 12th Annual Bike Swap and will help us with our brand re-launch, campaigns, community outreach, and more.

YWYW winners announced“Your Work, Your Way” Winners are Announced

During February, we encouraged Pierce Trips participants to telework and work a compressed work schedule. Overall, 288 participants qualified for prizes and logged over 6,000 telework trips and over 500 compressed days off! Including all non-drive alone trips logged in February, you all reduced over 257,000 drive-alone trips, equal to reducing the consumption of 222 oil barrels.

Get Ready for Bike Month

This spring, Pierce Trips invites you to hop on your bike to destinations like work, school, the library, park, or store. 

Looking for some guidance? You can find bicycle commuting guides, bike maps, bike parking tips, bike events and more at PierceTrips.com/Bike.  

Pierce Trips will be hosting the Bike Everywhere Challenge, May 1-31, encouraging folks to log their bicycle trips on the Pierce Trips Calendar at PierceTrips.com. You can participate as an individual or form a bike team with your friends or coworkers. Those who take and log at least 10 bike trips in the Pierce Trips Calendar are automatically entered to win prizes, including gift cards for individuals, and a pizza party for the top performing bike teams. 

To join the Bike Everywhere Challenge, create an account or login to the Pierce Trips Calendar and log your bike trips during May.

The 12th annual Bike Swap is returning to the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

The Pierce County Bike Swap will bring the bicycling community together to buy, sell bikes and bike parts, teach young ones how to ride, discuss best cycling routes, and much more. The Bike Swap will feature bike corrals, low-cost helmet sales, Bike Map Masters, a kid’s riding area, local vendors, and more.

New Pierce Transit Vanpool Incentives

Pierce Transit is rewarding vanpoolers more than ever! Check out how you can start saving and winning by joining a vanpool:

  • New vanpoolers get their first month FREE and receive $100.
  • Refer a new vanpool rider and receive $100.
  • Become an approved vanpool driver and receive $100 and be entered to win another $250.

Spring service change

Transit Service Changes in Effect

Both Pierce Transit and Sound Transit have updated their service schedules as of March 19. 

Sound Transit has adjusted the Sounder S Line schedule for two of their trains. Read the full list of Sound Transit service changes here.

ORCA Lift

Pierce Transit and Sound Transit Adopt ORCA LIFT

Getting around the Puget Sound just got more affordable for lower income households as both Pierce Transit and Sound Transit begin offering the ORCA LIFT program. ORCA LIFT is a reduced adult fare program available to individuals with incomes below or equal to 200 percent of Federal Poverty Level guidelines.

Those who qualify will pay $1 adult fare per one-way trip on Pierce Transit buses and Sound Transit services, and many other transit agencies services.

Sound Transit officially adopted ORCA LIFT on March 1, and Pierce Transit will be participating in ORCA LIFT starting Saturday, April 1.
